Reception Theory
The reception theory today is often called the 'Audience Theory' (Audience's theory on certian media) and was first brough in by Hand-Robert Jauss in the 60's, more was added to the theory by 'Stuart Hall' who had progressed the theory for the audience to learn. The reception theory is basicually the audiences interpitation of a piece of media, Movie, Video-Game or a TV show. This is a focus point because without the audience media texts would have no point in exisiting today. This can be related to the 9/11 disaster - the majority of the audience interpeted in our own specific manor - this was due to the media coverage on TV and online. But this can be challanged due to people having their thoughts and opinions because they were there as it happend.

9/11 is another example because people have different views and opinions than people that were actually there. |
Todays and past audiences have their own relationship with media, everyone watches a piece of media which is aimed at a speicific topic and meaning (By the creators). But no one receives the same out put with a piece of media, we all have specific opinions in our own way as everyone is different. The theory shows the audiences responses to media, it also goes into detail about the reasons behind peoples opinions. It also make assumptions for certain people, this can be related to certain areas, citys and countries. It explains that people living in different areas or countries will always have different opinions and thoughts on specific media texts.
