Production log

Week One
Week Two
Week Three
Week Four
Week Five

Week Six
Here is a six week schedule plan that we have created in order for every person involved in the filming to be aware of when things are taking place. The meetings at the start of the week are so as that we can plan out the schedules to fit around people's timetables as people may have other commitments, the meeting is also there so we can plan what costumes people should be wearing throughout the week and also where we are meeting. By doing this we are becoming more efficient with our time as a group as we know where to meet and the times, plus what we are doing on each day. If people are not present or do not arrive on time it is easier to show as we can show this as evidence that they were meant to be there but that they did not arrive or did not arrive on time. We as a group are all aware as to what each period's times are and we have discussed that this means we should arrive 5 minutes before the period of filming is scheduled to begin in order to have more time to prepare

Risk assessment

Risk assessment
Risks
Risk - Bulb
Risk - Wires
Risk - Chairs
Risk - Guitars
Risk - Camera
Risk - Wet floor

Hazard
Hazard with bulb's, bulb's can smash on any surface and cause shards and pieces of glass to spread. This makes it dangerous for anyone that is close to it, sitting on the floor and is around glass. Bulb's can also burn anyone that touches it, either cuts from glass for burns from bulb's can hurt anyone.

Hazard with Wires is that anyone can trip over them which can cause damage to them while falling, one solution to this is to cover up wires, move them to the side, place them in out of reach places.

Hazard with Chairs, chairs can get in the way of performances and on the set, this means that people can trip over them or knock into them causing damage into themselves. One solution to this is to move them out of the way when not using them.

Hazard with guitars, guitars can smash and break causing damage to the user, pieces of the guitar can cause splinters to spread and fall off. One solution to this is to take care when using them and use common sense when using.

Hazard with Camera's, Camera's can break which means that glass and plastic can break off. This means that other people can trip and fall into the pieces cause cuts and bruises. One solution to this is to take care when using and use common sense.

Hazard with Wet floor, if there is a wet floor people can slip and cause cuts, bruises or breaks. One solution to this is to clean wet floors, stay away from them and to use common sense.

Precaution
Bulb - take care when handling, use common sense when using them.
Wire - Stay away from wires and move them away from busy areas.
Chair - Move chairs when not using, stay away from useless chairs.
Guitar - Don't use damage or broken guitar's, keep away from dangerous equipment

Official video - first draft

First draft of video

Below is our first draft, the video footage although done but there are changes to be done to the editing - the group has also been looking through the video and has been deciding which scenes and parts to be changed/edited.

Band poster - update

Band poster

Recently the band poster has gone under many changes so that it suits our thoughts, genre and basic style of our band - the poster shows myself (Guitarist) and the lead singer (Joel). The poster was created by Scott who had created the band members with the style of our heads. This is good because it allows the audience to interact and think about the band, to correctly identify the band members by their heads.

Effects debate

Effects Debate

The effects debate is aimed at the censorship and the way the media is able to change/manipulate the audience in negative ways - and that there is a specific need to control media in order to protect its audience. People today who come up with ideas are put into certain categories (3 groups).

1. Cetain people that use their voice to address their concerns for danger within the media without having any real or actual truth to what they are saying. This can be related to politicans - the majority of the media itself is another example and campaining groups (Protest).
'Censorship'
2. Certain people that have researched into specific effects on the media and whether things have had a postive or negative effects on the media audience.

3. The audience that are subjective and drawn to this debate are typically the youth/teenagers that are still having many mixed opinions on the world of media, throught the ages their opinions will change wwhen they get older.

Censorship in Media can also be related to age restrictions - age restrictons are placed on TV shows, Movies and Vido-Games. All of these examples have numbers varying from 3-18. 3 being the less extreme and 18 being aimed at the mature. In film there is an orginisation called the BBFC - they  are responsible for the correct classification of movies/video-games. Anyone below the age of the classification are stricly not allowed to use/watch the media product.

This is paricually saw before the begining of Movies - 18 being the age classification for the film.

Reception theory

Reception Theory

The reception theory today is often called the 'Audience Theory' (Audience's theory on certian media) and was first brough in by Hand-Robert Jauss in the 60's, more was added to the theory by 'Stuart Hall' who had progressed the theory for the audience to learn. The reception theory is basicually the audiences interpitation of a piece of media, Movie, Video-Game or a TV show. This is a focus point because without the audience media texts would have no point in exisiting today. This can be related to the 9/11 disaster - the majority of the audience interpeted in our own specific manor - this was due to the media coverage on TV and online. But this can be challanged due to people having their thoughts and opinions because they were there as it happend.

Movies are a great example because people watch things differntly - tus having different opinions.
9/11 is another example because people have different views and opinions than people that were actually there.

Todays and past audiences have their own relationship with media, everyone watches a piece of media which is aimed at a speicific topic and meaning (By the creators). But no one receives the same out put with a piece of media, we all have specific opinions in our own way as everyone is different. The theory shows the audiences responses to media, it also goes into detail about the reasons behind peoples opinions. It also make assumptions for certain people, this can be related to certain areas, citys and countries. It explains that people living in different areas or countries will always have different opinions and thoughts on specific media texts.

Blumer and Katz

Blumer and Katz

This theory is a 'popular' approach to understanding and reading mass communication, it mainly focuses on the consumer or the audience it self - instead of the real message 'what people do with media'. The theory assumes that certain members of the audience are not passive towards the media - BUT they take on an active role in reading and integragating media in their own lives/opinions. The theory also states that the audience are responsible for choosing media for their own needs, this theory would then imply that the media compete against other information sources for viewers' gratification.

The media uses this theory to allow the audience to work with media in their own way, it allows them to have their own opinion and thoughts on pieces of media.

Recording progress

Recording progress

During today's filming our group had to film outside, when we were outside I was mainly in front of the Camera, the footage was based on myself playing an acoustic guitar next to some trees. In the footage the camera will be focusing on myself, the guitar and the surrounding environment. Few examples of the the footage is myself and the lead singer (Joel) playing/singing the song. Another example is a shot of the Camera going from my Shoes to the guitar.

In the first picture is an example of the footage of my self playing the guitar - the screenshot and the footage symbolise my input into the music video.

In the second screenshot is an example of the lead singer and my self playing the guitar in the background. The background is blurred because it shows the main vocal point which is Joel.

In the last screenshot is an example of my self
playing the guitar in the background which is faded.

Overall the footage today was successful because my self and the group had gotten some quality footage which is worth being in the music video.

Hypodermic Needle thorie

Hypodermic Needle

The Hypodermic Needle can be applied through media and the influence towards the audience, during the media lesson I learnt that the Hypodermic Needle can cause serious influence towards the audience in every format of media. In the form is music there are music videos that can influence their audience, one example of this is the singer 'Madonna'.

Scene taken from Madonna 'Feels like for a Women'

Scene taken from 'Child's play' - Chucky

Madonna has made a video called 'Feels like to be a women'. During this video it shows Madonna causing anarchy and chaos in the video. This could have a negative affect on the audience, the reason why is because women could watch the video and be influenced to copy what they see in the video. Another example of apiece of media that has had major example is the film 'Childs play' -  during this film it shows a demonic doll that tortures and murders several people. The film had a influence on children, the influence it had is that two children had watched the movie and re-inacted a certain scene and torturing a child. The last example of a piece of media is in film, during the early stages of Hypodermic Needle was the film 'War of the Worlds' -  during the film there is a radio speech, on the radio speech it talks about a alien invasion, the audience watching the film believed the radio speech due to it being on the radio. At the time audiences/people relied on the radio for news around the world. This is a popular and yet early example of a Hypodermic Needle.
